Having a business is one of the most fulfilling ventures that one could have. It is one of the means of achieving financial freedom, getting out of the rat race so to speak. Having the opportunity to be one’s own boss and never having to answer to someone else is what everyone dreams of.
One great thing about having your own business is that you have a lot of opportunities to travel. Although, the traveling you do may be for different reasons. It could purely be for pleasure and do some vacationing of your own, or it could be for your business itself. It is when traveling that most businessmen are able to get their business ideas. Some go to other countries, just to get a different perspective of things.
So in order to help you when you are traveling, it would be a good thing to keep a list of things that you will need. To simplify things, let us categorize what things you will need on your travel. You will need clothes, personal hygiene stuff, monetary needs, important documents, and lastly your tools or gadgets.
First things are your clothes. Make sure that how much clothes you will bring will be proportional to your travel stay. There is really no point of bringing a 3-suitcase luggage of clothes for a 2-day trip to Hawaii. Ideally, the maximum number of clothes you should bring should be good for 2 weeks. If your trip will take longer than 2 weeks, it would be best to look for a laundry shop nearby where you’re staying. There are some that would offer 1-day service.
Next is for your personal hygiene. This would consist of your toothbrush, paste, comb and some other stuff you would normally need after stepping out of the bathroom. Males and females normally have different needs for this one. For the guys, there is your usual razor, aftershave and cologne. For the ladies, aside from the perfume, lipstick and eyeliner, there are your sanitary materials especially when it’s the time of the month.
Monetary needs. It is very important to remember this one or else there is a very big chance you will be stranded. Although it is discouraged to bring cash during traveling due to safety reasons, it would still be reasonable to bring some extra cash along just in case. Aside from cash, you will also need your credit cards or ATM cards. Having a checkbook with you will also help a lot in closing those business deals.
Important documents. This refers to your personal identification. Keep at least 2 proofs of identification whenever traveling. Passport should be the first item in this category since you cannot go traveling without it. Next could be a company ID, driver’s license or social security ID. Of course, if this would be a business trip, then do not forget the documents you will need for your important meetings. But if you prefer not to bring any documents, having one of those small travel printers can be very handy. As long as this printer doesn’t outweigh the documents you will need, then having a soft copy of your important documents along with your printer would be a more logical choice. An example of this portable printer is the Canon Pixma IP100.
Lastly, your gadgets. Even though it wouldn’t be included in this list, it is highly probable that you won’t forget this since most are already a part of you. Examples of these gadgets are your mobile phones, PDA or laptop. Though you might not be able to forget these gadgets, a common mistake that people make is forgetting their chargers, making all the gadgets only useful for a day. So when you do make a list of all the gadgets you need, do not forget the chargers.
As a last tip, always travel light. It will make things easier for you in the terminals during security checks.
