If you struggle with insomnia, you issue may not be that you cannot fall asleep when you go to bed. Many people find it easy to fall asleep but then wake up and are not able to get back to sleep. This is referred to as middle insomnia and it is a very frustrating condition to have.
It is far better to get some sleep than none at all. With middle insomnia, you can at least depend on getting a few hours of sleep. This doesn’t mean that waking up at 2:30 am is an easy thing to deal with.
The good news is that there are many insomnia remedies.
If you suffer from middle insomnia, you may be able to take actions that will improve the quality of your sleep. The first step is to carefully examine your surroundings. There could be something in your environment that is leading to your night awakenings.
It might be that sounds are making you wake up. The best thing to do is try to drown out these noises. One way to accomplish this is with a white noise maker. You can also download white noise audio tracks to your iPhone or iPod. There are a lot of options to choose from. My personal favorite is rain.
Too much light in your room may also cause you to wake up at night. You may be underestimating how much a light in your room is affecting your sleep. One alternative is to purchase black out shades. You can also buy eye covers that will block out the light. You will be surprised at just how inexpensive and comfortable eye covers can be.
The temperature of the room you are sleeping in can also lead to middle insomnia. Everyone is unique but generally people sleep best between 65 and 70 degrees. You may find that by fixing your environmental issues you don’t need to look for ways to fall asleep any more.
