Coming up with garage plans can be a challenge. One of the more important components of the room is the flooring. This is not only going to be one of the first things people see when they enter the garage but also should be durable and able to stand up in such a high traffic area. Usually the garage has people and vehicles coming out of it on a regular basis.

There are a few prime options you have for garage plans when it comes to flooring in a garage. You could choose to cover the entire floor with a mat. This may not give the best aesthetic look but is extremely affordable and easy to do. You simply take the measurements of the floor and order in a customized mat to fit. Or, if you are tight for money, you could opt for a mat that is slightly larger than the room size and cut to fit or one slightly smaller and make it work.

If you have a bit more money to spend and want a more attractive flooring option, consider using paint. The garage will need to be emptied entirely besides anything hanging on walls before you can start painting.

Latex and polyurethane paints work well but your best option is epoxy. The most expensive option, it is also the most durable and best looking. It prevents mold and mildew from growing on garage floors that is important, as garages tend to be the rooms with the most moisture in a home. Prepare the floor before applying your paint and besides clearing out the whole room you will need to scrub, vacuum and rinse the entire floor to remove stains and any old paint coatings.

There are lots of doable options for covering your garage floor. You will be amazed at what a difference changing the floor in your garage makes. It will look like a brand new room and then you can work on changing up the rest of the room as you please, working from the ground up.
