If you are deciding whether to undergo breast enlargement surgery, you should probably consider the recovery period. In fact, the normal recovery period can be for weeks and sometimes months after surgery. Your body will need time to adjust to the prosthesis and not permitting yourself the proper time to recover can have negative effects on both your health and your results.

First and foremost, if you undergo the surgery, you will need more rest than normal and avoid lifting heavy objects at all cost. While the first two days are typically the most uncomfortable, you can expect intermittent period of pain for the next few weeks. It is possible to resume a normal lifestyle apart from lifting and strenuous activity, in about a week.

For the first few days after surgery, you will need to keep the dressing on until you see your doctor and he fits you with a surgical bra. Assuming your surgery required stitches you can expect to have those removed after a week or two. The scars from the surgery will remain visible for weeks, until slowly beginning to fade. Take these appointments with your doctor as opportunities to ask him any questions or concerns you might have.

As you can see, there are multiple phases to your recovery. Your breasts are swollen and painful to touch for quite some period after surgery. Your doctor may proscribe you medications to help deal with the pain, but you should not use this as an opportunity to engage in any strenuous activity.

As should be apparent, before deciding to get breast implants, there are a range of things to consider, including your pain tolerance and ability to lay low while you recover. After meeting with a doctor and weighing your options, you very well might decide that breast enlargement surgery is right for you.
