Taking care of your skin is one of the keys to achieving acne free skin. It starts with washing your face with a gentle cleanser that won’t irritate your skin. Washing gets rid of dirt on your face. Do it twice to thrice daily depending on your activity for the day. Just avoid scrubbing your face as it will lead to the increase of oil production which is one of the leading causes of acne. And while we’re talking about washing, remember also to wash your hands before touching your face. Don’t let that dirt go to your face!

Since washing your face is not enough, you should also use a toner to get rid of the excess dirt and oil. For people with dry skin, you may use moisturizer after applying the toner. But for people with oily skin, use a water based or gel-based moisturizer if you need to. For the girls, it you need to use makeup, buy only those that do not clog your pores or are noncomedogenic and those that those that won’t irritate your skin or are hypoallergenic. Also remember to wash off your makeup before sleeping.

Eat a healthy diet consisting of fruits and vegetables and avoid stocking up on sweets, oily stuff, and fatty foods. Remember to drink plenty of water each day as it helps cleanse your body’s systems and aids in flushing out toxins. Bring water wherever you may go.

Take time out to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Walking to your school or office instead of riding is adequate enough. Exercise improves blood circulation which increases delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin. It also relieves stress which is one of the main culprits of acne.

Lastly, getting at least 7 hours of sleep a day improves skin health as your body also recharges and rests.
