1) They are almost always made out of lightweight materials, to make them especially portable and easy to carry. Storage cubes are by nature seen by people as something that should be easy to move, and so manufacturers must fit that assumption. So when you purchase them, take this into account.

2) Storage Cubes are typically made of materials that won’t hurt you if you drop them. Another important element, if you have them on a shelf and drop them, it’s rare for them to be made out of a material so dense or dangerous that you risk serious injury. I don’t recommend you do anything that would risk this of course, but it’s good to keep in mind if you’re using them as toy boxes, for example.

3) Storage cubes are sturdy, simply due to their shape. A wireframe cube can hold literally hundreds of pounds without bending or breaking, and if it’s well-made, it could hold more than that. Even if they’re made of fabric, if they’re full, the shape will hold and you can stack them pretty easily.

4) Storage cubes are modular, and easy to organize. If you don’t like how you have them arranged, just move them around! The similar size will make them extremely easy to move around according to your preference of the month (or even hour, if you really can’t decide!) They’re great if you want to try multiple different designs in your home, or if you’re the kind of person who gets new ideas every few days or so!

5) Modern storage cubes are stylish, and actually look good when set out in an apartment or home. Perhaps you used egg crates when you were in college and didn’t think they were all that good looking, but those days are over. Today you can search online or go to any home and garden store and find something that looks great and serves its purpose very well.
